Last Updated: Apr 8th 2008 What Is Gift of Hope?

Gift of Hope is a Hope08 initiative, part of the Million Hours of Kindness project this May, to enlist Christians in Scotland who are healthy and aged between 17 and 65, to give blood through the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS).

Surprisingly, only about 5% of Scots give blood, meaning there are an awful lot of more us who can take time out in May to pop along to our local donor centre, or go to one of the many sessions organised through the year by the SNBTS outside main cities, to simply give an hour of kindness.

The May project is piloting in Edinburgh, with local churches being asked to send folks along to the blood donor centre, at 41, Lauriston Place. Edinburgh EH3 9HB, just up from Tollcross. Following the ‘How Can I Give’ link above will take you to the page showing your church’s co-ordinator, if there is one, or, if not, to a link giving details of where, when and how to give.

Please be sure and mention the Gift of Hope initiative when you go to donate, so that we can tally how effective the project has been, and log our Edinburgh hours of kindness towards the one million target!

So, let’s get going, let’s get giving, for love’s sake!
